The Boker Plus Kwaiken Flipper by Lucas Burnley is probably one of the most influential designs of the 21st century. The slim build and exclusive material make the Kwaiken a crossover between a gentleman’s folder and a tactical knife. In order to make it easier to bridge the gap, the Kwaiken Mini Flipper has the same great qualities as its big brother but is significantly smaller and therefore more pocket-friendly. This version features rugged D2 blade steel and sleek carbon fiber handle scales. With a reversible clip (tip-up).

About the Designer: Lucas Burnley

Lucas Burnley of Massachusetts has been a full-time custom knifemaker and designer since 2003. His distinctive knives blend clean, modern lines with tactical origins – a style Lucas identifies as Post-Tactical. His designs for fixed blades and pocket knives are both playful and sophisticated and often incorporate subtle neo-Japanese elements. Above all he believes that utility shouldn’t come at the cost of beauty. In addition to folding knives and handy fixed blades, he also designs his own accessories.

D2 Tool Steel

With a chromium content of 12%, D2 – a tool steel – can certainly be classified as a stainless steel. Since its chromium content is right on the threshold, however, a little more care for the D2 wouldn’t go amiss. As an upper-tier conventional steel, D2 offers great edge retention and stability, though sharpening it takes a little effort.
